Curriculum & Learning
We provide a rich learning environment with curricula that are developmentally appropriate to the specific ages of our classrooms. We have a flexible daily routine that allows children to advance at their own pace. We strongly believe that learning happens through play. Learning and exploring are hands-on and are facilitated through interest areas. Our program is designed to enhance children’s development in the following areas: creativity, self-help, self-expression, decision-making, problem solving, responsibility, independence, and reasoning. We encourage openness to that which is different from us, and the ability to work and play with others.
Teachers adjust curriculum to children’s needs by observing them in play and designing plans drawn from their inspiration and interests. The room is then transformed into the plan or theme. The various areas of the classroom are set up to enhance and nourish the children, as they acquire knowledge and skills.
We specialize in children’s growth and development; physically, emotionally, socially, intellectually and morally/ethically. We anticipate opportunities to discuss and respect each other’s differences. We believe that play is the child’s most important means of knowledge as well as solutions to conflicts between individuals.
Our school is one large classroom for the preschool and Pre-k. The classroom is arranged into areas of interest that are filled with materials that will enrich the child’s play. Interrelated learning results from exposure to concepts in the areas of math, science, art and language. Our Terrific Twos classroom is likewise arranged into areas of interest and the materials offered are age appropriate and engaging.
